Named for two railroad men at a water stop
Irmo began as a February 1890 water stop on the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad, took its name from officials C.J. Iredell and H.C. Moseley, incorporated December 24, 1890, and grew substantially once the Dreher Shoals Dam created Lake Murray between 1927 and 1930.
Decks built for lakeside living
Irmo's proximity to Lake Murray makes outdoor entertaining space a genuine draw here, and a deck built for lake-town living needs to handle the same summer heat and humidity as the rest of the Midlands while standing up to the added moisture that comes with being close to the water.

What helps an Irmo deck estimate
Share your budget range, planned use, proximity to the lake, and any current structure being replaced. Provider availability varies, so confirm license and insurance directly.
Confirm lake-area setback and permit rules
Shoreline and near-shore properties around Lake Murray can carry additional setback requirements beyond standard town rules. Verify current Town of Irmo requirements before finalizing a design.
